Hi,
cylay has changed very much now and I do not think they offer the free version, it does run in the background on the phone and is very secret and is hard to find within the settings menu although if someone has found your phone and wipes it completely by installing a new firmware im not sure if there is much you can do about it unless this had been addressed in the new versions

(I edited your review. Maybe you'll like this version more.)

This is an app review for Cylay which is available through Rock or Cydia on jailbroken iPhones.

Cylay has been around for a while on the jailbreak scene and is the first app to come out which allows you to protect your iPhone and your privacy. The idea behind the app seems commonplace, but there is no other app available for the iPhone with this many security options and as well designed. Regretfully, I had never tried its prior installments, as it was never free; but now that there is a free version, I thought I’d check it out.

Once you have installed Cylay 3 on your iPhone, you can create an account in the Settings menu. Also in the Settings menu are various options like enabling Cylay or assigning what to do if your iPhone gets lost or stolen. One of the app's best features here (after entering your google account details), is to allow Cylay to do a complete backup of your iPhone, remotely.

Once you've completed setting your preferences, you can go to cylay.com and sign-in, bringing you to the main control panel of cylay. This is where you can declare your iPhone lost or stolen and track its precise location via google maps. The options are amazing! Check recent calls, send a text to the phone, activate camera, lock phone…. see below

The options are brilliant! I almost want to lose my iPhone so I can find it again with this app. Then, I'll have a story like the many other success stories of people finding their stolen iPhones with Cylay.

If you want to pay for the premium service, it will cost you $19.99 a year (which is well worth considering). The only thing I question is if Cylay's option to "Keep Your iPhone On" (or whatever it's called exactly) will prevent a thief from simply restoring your iPhone to factory settings, thereby deleting Cylay altogether.

Well, that's my take on it. What about you?
