Welcome to App Store on Twitter! Follow us to discover new apps, get exclusive offers, and share with friends. #appstore

Not the most exciting news but…… Apple have created for some strange reason an official Twitter account and released the above Tweet, now I dont really understand what they are going to Tweet about I’m going to assume it will all be AppStore releases and possible special deals. Maybe it is their new form of advertising paid apps? Who knows only time will tell….

With Apple and the App store coming up to the 10 billionth download they have released some statistics of the most download app’s so far. These are split into small groups such as iPhone free and iPhone Paid, this is also done for the iPad. I think this is a great milestone for Apple and gives us some good statistics although for me I did not find them that surprising.

Here is the most downloaded apps :

App Review – Can Knockdown

On January 17, 2011, in App of the Week, App review, by iPhoneRadar

App Review – Can Knockdown

Sometimes how can something so simple be so addictive! Our app review this week is for Can knockdown which is currently available in the UK Appstore for the low price of nothing! Aim of the game is to throw the balls and knock down the as many cans as possible with each turn taking you to a new level, as long as you have knocked them all down that is. I know your probably thinking that sounds so easy but trust me it really really isn’t, and there is something about it that just want you to keep trying to beat your high score. If you were a fan of PaperToss which I think most iPhone users all know about then you will absolutely love this!

App of the Week – Driver

On January 16, 2011, in App of the Week, by iPhoneRadar

My app of the week goes to Driver this week, and i must say what a game! To be honest at first i wasnt really interested as i thought it would just be a terrible port of a classic, oh how wrong i was. If it was not for the free version i would not have got my £2.99 out to buy it, as it really just shows how good it is.

The graphics amazed me, it took me back to my playstation days of being amazed of the graphics then. They are almost identical maybe just a few less cars on the roads, but still includes day and night mode. Within the graphics are all the video’s which are well put together but i cannot remember if they are from the original

The controls are also impressive, with the car handling great and being easy to control. If im going to really try hard to find something wrong i would say that the handbrake and the burnout buttons are a bit close to left and right and you find yourself sometimes pressing both, but i think this is deliberate so it makes it easier to handbrake round corners.

It also has incredible depth with 4 cities to drive round in and do your missions. If you dont feel like doing your missions then you can just select take a ride and drive for as long as you like

Hopefully this is a show of things to come, hats off to gameloft as they have done and incredible job. This is a must buy for any iPhone/iPod gamer!

App Review – Streets Of Rage

On January 11, 2011, in App review, by iPhoneRadar

Streets Of Rage £1.79

The Sega Megadrive and arcade classic is back and I feel like this game never gets old. It is absolutely spot on how it use to be, the music the sounds effects and the graphics and with a bonus they come with no loading times!

if you havent ever played streets of rage then the basic idea of the game is to get through the level while multiple enemies try to stop you, you have basic buttons with a kick/punch button a jump button and a special button. When tapping the kick/puch button you perform combo’s and if you combine it with jump sometimes you can throw people. on your way through the levels you will find enemies with weapons such as knives, baseball bats, and large pipes.

App Review – Infinity Blade

On December 18, 2010, in App of the Week, App review, by iPhoneRadar

infinity blade title

Infinity Blade
Price Uk – £3.49

No game on the iPhone so far has had jaw dropping graphics in my opinion until Infinity Blade came along that is. Inifinity Blade was originally a graphic demo to display the Unreal 3 Engine working on the iPhone which is a great achievement, now they have introduced a game within this graphical demo and my god what a game it is

You play the role of a warrior who’s objective is to fight your way through the castle facing different enemies to reach the final boss. On your way through the castle there is different routes you can take to reach the end or find special treasure chests. The controls in battle are surprisingly responsive and it is very enjoyable when fighting until your shield breaks! When you win these battle’s you gain XP and also gold, the XP goes towards leveling up and gaining mastery in your items and the gold allows you to buy more items.

I found it sometimes to struggle a bit on my 3GS but I found on the iPhone 4 with the retina display the game really came to life. The story is quite short but the developers have promised in the new year we will have new items, levels and beasts to fight. I honestly think this is just the beginning for Infinity Blade and also the Unreal Engine on the iPhone.

A few little tips I found, make sure at every opportunity you look round as you will find gold and magic lying around, and if anyone can give me any tips on beating the final beast then I would be grateful :)

App Review – The Inbetweeners

On September 25, 2010, in App review, by iPhoneRadar

App Review – The Inbetweeners
Price – 59p

If you are reading this then you probably already know what the Inbetweeners is and for those of you that dont it is a comedy series here in the UK. One of the best things in the inbetweeners is some of the sayings they come out with so what better idea for an app than a soundboard.

Initially I was quite excited about this app until I actually used it, it is presented very nicely with good background pictures and nice little animations. When you select which person it then loads up a soundboard of his sayings. There isn’t a great collection of sayings and I found after about 2 minutes of going through them it got quite dull, I know its only 59p but for me it has the feeling it should of been free.

All in all, if you want a good soundboard app go get the fonejacker app

App Review – Kiss Kube

On September 21, 2010, in App review, by iPhoneRadar

App Review – Kiss Kube
Price – Free!

If your in the UK then you will be very familiar with Kiss 100 radio station, well good news they have released the Kiss Kube. Its a very simple app which gives you live radio and and previous shows that have been on in the last 7 days, which is a great idea as many of the shows you want to listen to can sometimes be on at 12 or 1 in the morning which can be a bit inconvenient to say the least

The loading times can be a bit long if you dont have a good enough signal but that goes without saying really, its lay out is nice and simple to use and very clear. Since I have had the app I have used it quite a bit, especially in the car!

Definitely worth a download if you like a bit of Kiss

App Review – Angry Birds

On September 21, 2010, in App review, by iPhoneRadar

App Review – Angry Birds
Price – .59p

Angry Birds has been at the top of the Appstore for quite some time now, so I thought its about time I give it a go and at least a quick review. The basis of the game is the survival of the angry birds and them getting revenge on the green pigs. In other words you have to catapult these birds into the green pigs with each level differing on difficulty. Now it does not sound very interesting but I must warn this game is extremely addictive, there is 105 levels which will take you an eternity to get through and are different every time.

The layout is very simple along with the controls which is a must for any iPhone game, the graphics are also simple but they do not need to be anything special with the type of game it is. Although I did find the sounds quite annoying but they are really easy to turn off

In the first picture I have just catapulted the angry bird

….. and then just before the result of me smashing the building trying to get the green pig

All in all its a great addictive game for 59p that will definitely earn its money worth, highly recommended

App Review – Fruit Ninja

On May 11, 2010, in App of the Week, App review, by iPhoneRadar

App review – Fruit Ninja
Price – 59p

Fruit ninja confused me at first thinking what the hell is a fruit ninja, but one quick read of the app description and it all comes clear. The game is simple, fruit is tossed into the air or onto your screen I should say, and all you have to do is swipe it to cut it. The more fruit you cut the higher score you get, just stay clear of the bombs. It sounds pretty basic but it is one of those very addictive little games much like paper toss was

Its nice to play an app that is colourful and the fruit looks great even when you do slice it apart, the sound effects are also good and simple which to me simple is what an iPhone app should be. Some people may find it boring as that is all there is to do in the game but something keeps making you go back to try and beat your high score.

I highly recommend it for 59p, especially with the addictiveness it has it makes me think about re-downloading papertoss aswell!
