Clear iPhone Case Mod

On January 30, 2011, in News, by iPhoneRadar

I was over at iPhonehacks.com and came accross possibly one of the coolest iPhone mods I have seen ever I think. Now the modding scene isn’t one of the biggest on the iPhone but to be honest there has never really been much there to mod when the iPhone looks so beautifully expensive anyway

[Video] Trimensional iPhone 3D Scanning

On January 11, 2011, in News, by iPhoneRadar

Something I came accross on Youtube and the modmyi blog was a cool app called trimensional, it is the first app to render 3D graphics and it works supprisingly well. If you have watched the video then you will see that it does not use complex systems but just the screen and the front facing camera. When running the app all you have to do is hold the screen up to your face with full brightness and the front facing camera builds the pictured determined on the light.

Unfortunately you can only use this if you have the iPhone 4 because it requires the camera, never the less a very cool and different app for the iPhone

iPhone 4 Signal Fix?

On June 30, 2010, in News, by iPhoneRadar

There has been alot of complaints about the new iPhone 4 and signal issues reportedly changing the way you hold it. Really all in all it seems like it is a bit of a design flaw having the aerial on the side as Apple apparently are having tons of complaints emailed to them. You may of seen in the news recently an email to Steve Jobs from an angry customer saying when he holds his iPhone a certain way he loses signal, Steve Jobs reply was “dont hold it like that”

Anyway, the fix that alot of people are doing and it seems to be working for around 50% of users is a simple case of re-seating their sim card. Apparently the sim tray that the sim card sits on does not make the micro sim sit perfectly and taking it out and re-seating the micro sim is seemingly helping alot of users.

The picture below points out the problem, macrumours reports that majority of the problems are from the metal contact on the micro sim touching the steel tray. Users over on their forums are using electrical tape to tape the sim tray metal side to stop such contact but are reporting mixed results. Surely Apple should of made the sim tray plastic?

iPhone 4 Sold Out Already?

On June 24, 2010, in News, by iPhoneRadar

By the looks of this video which was London’s Regent Street I would say that we dont have to long before we hear that they are completely sold out. We were told that near enough every shop that had the iPhone in stock had massive lines outside with people desperate to get there hands on the new iPhone

I would say by the looks of things already the iPhone 4 is going to be in short supply for a good couple of months and the sales figures must be astronomical, surely this has overtaken all previous releases?

Today I rang O2 customer services inquiring about there early upgrade scheme and only available in store and it seems they are telling a few white lies. The customer services advisor said I could order the iPhone tomorrow over the phone and have it delivered when the website clearly states its only available in stores….. Naughty naughty

Only one downside to this though, they said I would have to pay £390!! Thats £300 to pay off the rest of my contract and £90 for the new phone, the contract remainder is set at a basic flat fee of £20 a month. So I have a fair few months left!

2 days and most people will be ripping open this box in excitement! Shame we was unable to pre-order in the UK as some US customers have received emails saying their iPhone has been dispatched and will be with them a day early!

I’m just crossing my fingers the UK get enough stock to allow me to early upgrade with O2

New iPhone To Have 720p Video Recording

On May 6, 2010, in News, by iPhoneRadar

Well with the release of iPhone OS 4.0 SDK last night, developers started crawling through all the source code to see if they could come up with any more clues on what the new iPhone may contain. They came across some video coding within the software which contained this 1280×720 resolution which is 720p, this was linked to the video camera. So looks as if we will be receiving 720p video recording which is a great leap for Apple as new phones are just starting to release this feature.

I would also think and probably place some money now on the new iPhone being called the iPhone HD

iTunes 9.1.1 Safe To Update?

On April 28, 2010, in News, by iPhoneRadar

Today an iTunes update has been released, it looks as if it is safe to update but usual advice goes out to all jailbreakers to not update as it may cause problems with future jailbreaks

MuscleNerd the developer of “spirit” which will jailbreak possibly OS 4.0 tweeted

In general, those using *any* userland JB should avoid iTunes updates, since iTunes can detect & remove it.

Today’s 9.1.1 iTunes is safe for PwnageTool&redsn0w. But those hoping to use userland JBs (like Spirit) should hold off.
