iPhone Dev Team: No Jailbreak For iOS 4.0.2, iOS 3.2.2

On August 29, 2010, in News, by iPhoneRadar

iPhone Dev team have released a statement saying there will be no jailbreak release for 4.0.2 and 3.2.2. The update came to fix the jailbreakme.com exploit which became one of the most popular and easiest ways to jailbreak recent idevices.

They say that releasing a new jailbreak is like playing cat and mouse with Apple and a game that Apple will always win, so for now they will wait until the next firmware update which will probably be 4.1 around September time. Unfortunately there is no way back at the minute but rumour has it you can still jailbreak if you have an itouch 2nd gen or an iPhone 3g via Redsn0w, although we havent tried yet

Apple Giving Away Free iPhone Bumper Cases

On July 23, 2010, in News, by iPhoneRadar

Over on at Apple they have released a new page on there website giving away free iPhone cases. Now for Apple to be doing something like this admits to me there is definately a problem with the iPhone 4 and they are trying to solve it with a case? Maybe it stops you shorting out the antenna or completely blocking it?

I’m not really to sure….. Anyway even if you have bought a case they will refund you! All you have to do is download the app from the appstore, fill in your details and pick a case.

I would go for a black case as the white ones end up going grey!

Apple Sells 1.7 Million iPhone 4′s In A Weekend

On June 28, 2010, in News, by iPhoneRadar

Well the figures are out, not the most precise of figures but they will do. Apple claim they have sold 1.7 million iPhone 4′s in just a weekend which is absolutely crazy! Bare in mind this is with a shortage of stock and only available in limited countries, so if there was more stock the figure could of been even more.

Steve Jobs released this comment

“This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply.”

iPhone 4 Sold Out Already?

On June 24, 2010, in News, by iPhoneRadar

By the looks of this video which was London’s Regent Street I would say that we dont have to long before we hear that they are completely sold out. We were told that near enough every shop that had the iPhone in stock had massive lines outside with people desperate to get there hands on the new iPhone

I would say by the looks of things already the iPhone 4 is going to be in short supply for a good couple of months and the sales figures must be astronomical, surely this has overtaken all previous releases?

Well what a strange bit of news coming from Google headquarters, they announced that they will be introducing a free navigation program into Google Maps. This was great news for everyone and lots of iPhone users were extremely happy to hear this much like I was until now….

Google have released a statement basically saying it “might not” come to the iPhone, their reason for this being as they are currently focusing on the Android Software. This is what they said:

“We did not say we would bring it to iPhone, we said to date we’ve had it on Android and that in the future it may come to other platforms but did not confirm this will be coming to iPhone at all.”

This could be because Google are currently not getting much support from Apple since releasing their own OS and phones. They have also had trouble getting Google voice and Latitude ported to the iPhone with Apple ending up turning round not approving the iPhone apps.

App Review – World War

On March 21, 2010, in App review, by iPhoneRadar

Im not usually a fan of these attack, buy things, wait for your energy to recharge but seeing as this went from paid to free i thought i would give it a go and im glad i did. I have played iMobsters and not found them ones to interesting. They are great for like a few days then after that its boring. I find world war different, it just has me more addicted than any other and i dont know why

The layout is nice and simple and is very similar to all the other games like this. It allows you to form alliances and buy units to defend your nation. The one thing that gets really annoying is the music and sound effects, i have had to turn them off as they just keep annoying me

Its seems as if the app is quite popular as i am getting attacked on a regular basis so can only be a good thing. Its currently free and i recommend you give it a go while it is

App Review – WhatsApp Messenger

App Review – WhatsApp Messenger

Ever wanted free messaging? Then this is the app for you! WhatsApp is a free messaging service that works over data connection, so that means instead of sending a text and costing you money it will send it over data like 3G or WiFi to save you some money! The only catch is the other person must have WhatsApp installed on there iPhone. One major bonus is if your friends are abroad or you just like texting internationally it wont cost you anything either. When a message comes through you recieve a push message and it appears just like a text!

The app is very easily laid out and works a bit better than the standard sms client does in my opinion. You also have the ability to set your status within the app like you would on twitter or facebook. So when your friends go into WhatsApp to message you they can see your status first. The only one thing i found if i wanted to be really picky about this app is that sometimes the messages dont come through straight away and can be delayed, but that applies to sms aswell really.

This app cost .59p on the Uk appstore which at that price is an absolute bargain. It comes with my highest recommendations as it really is great if your trying to save some money on texts!

This is an app review for cylay which is available through rock or cydia on jailbroken phones

This app has been around for a while on the jailbreak scene, the first one to come out and allow you to protect your iPhone and your privacy. The idea of the app seems very simple but there is no others out there with this many options and this well laid out. I never tried it before as it was never free but now they have a free version so i thought i’d check it out

Once you have installed cylay three you can create an account in the settings menu and it gives you various options like enable cylay, what to do if iPhone gets set as lost and things like that. One of the best things is if you enter your google account details it allows you to do a complete back up of your iPhone remotely.

Once your all set with all your options you can go to cylay.com and sign in, now this is the main control panel of cylay. This is where you can declare your phone lost, track it via google maps and it is very very precise to where it tracks. The options are amazing, check recent calls, send a text to the phone, activate camera, lock phone…. see below

The options are brilliant it almost wants me to loose my iPhone just so i can try and find it again, there has already been success stories from people having there phones stolen and re-found through cylay. If you want to pay for it, it will cost you $19.99 a year but it is well worth considering! The only thing that makes me a bit iffy is if someone finds your phone and knows what they are doing then they could simply restore the phone? But then again there is the option to allow the phone to not be turned off so i wonder if it stops it?

A must have app now its free or three as it says :)

App Review – Flick Kick Field Goal

On February 8, 2010, in App review, by iPhoneRadar

App Review – Flick Kick Field Goal

What is it with all these addictive apps! I honestly didn’t have much hope for this app but it actually surprised me. The objective kick the ball into the field goal…. simple? Definitely not. At first it seems simple with no wind and not to far away and then it all starts getting a bit to hard!

The graphics are great, i like it especially when the ball is on fire. There is no lag and it is very responsive to your “flick” of the ball, although the sound can be annoying but at least there is an option to turn this off

I find sudden death the most addictive at the minute trying to get past 13, which is a bit lame really. The game reminds me very much of paper toss, except there is just something about it that makes it a bit more exciting than throwing paper in a bin

App is available now on app store currently FREE
