Apple today announced pre-orders of its iPhone 5 topped two million in just 24 hours, more than double the previous record of one million held by iPhone 4S. Demand for iPhone 5 exceeds the initial supply and while the majority of pre-orders will be delivered to customers on September 21, many are scheduled to be delivered in October.
Well as expected the iPhone 5 is the most pre-ordered iPhone from Apple with an amazing 2 million pre-orders in 24 hours. I would imagine by now that they are well past that figure now with a few days gone we already have people waiting outside the Apple store here in London even though it is not out till the 24th September
My question is have you ordered yours? In all honesty I wont be ordering mine one because my upgrade is not due till next year and in all honesty I see no reason to upgrade my iPhone 4s at the minute. Although I can imagine my opinion will change very quickly once I get my hands on one!
Right so after the big news yesterday we now all know what the iPhone 5 features and what it looks like, by now you probably all know the new features but I thought we would do a quick run down
Display.
As seen in the picture above it now features a 4″ Retina display which makes the phone taller but it is the same width as the iPhone 4s
New A6 Processor
The A6 is the replacement for the A5 which is in the iPhone 4s and we have been promised double the speed and handling capabilities of the A5 chip, so we should see some exciting games in the future
New Wireless and 4G
It now has a new wireless processor which will more than double wireless speeds and all of the iPhone 5′s are 4G capable which can see around 33mbps with good signal, hopefully this gets rolled out here in the UK very soon
New Dock Connector
We will now also see a new dock connector which we have been promised is now lightening quick, for all those people that claim this is a money making idea it may well be but they have also released a dock adapter which offers backwards capability
Apple have finally announced that they will hold a media event on the 12th September and it looks as though this is when we could see the new iPhone 5 and maybe an iPad mini? I am almost 100% sure we will see the new iPhone as if you look at the picture above which Apple have sent on invitations the shadow of the number 12 is actually the number five, which to me is indicating the new iPhone 5 which is the 5th generation.
After the months of speculation in a few days time we will finally see what Apple has in store for us!
Another video of supposed iPhone 5 parts which are looking more and more real as the time for release and the Apple media event comes ever closer
The above picture is a leaked image from a AT&T inventory system which is showing the iPhone 4s, now this could be a simple typo but somehow I do not think so. There has been many rumours flying around that we will be seeing two iPhones next month and now the dates are coming ever closer the rumours are coming i thick and fast. The main rumour coming from big reputable sources such as JP Morgan is that Apple are going with the idea of a cheaper iPhone to attack the ever growing and cheaper Android market and China market.
I believe these rumours as they have been around for a long long time, it is a certain that next month we will see the iPhone 5 hopefully around the 15th as leaked by a Dutch telecoms website and I do also hope we will see an iPhone 4s for those people that are mid contract and cant afford a £500+ iPhone. Your thoughts?
The guys over at 9to5mac have today added these pictures of which they claim are new iPhone 5 cases. Much like the case schematics we showed in the previous post these show the same sort of changes with it being half an inch wider with a taller thinner frame. Now 9to5mac claim these are from a very reliable source in Asia which gave them the correct inside info on the iPad 2 before it was actually released, with the iPhone 5 in production over in Asia I think its safe to say we can start confirming these new features
we also see in the picture above how thin the iPhone 5 is going to be compared to the iPhone 4 now all we need is someone to actually find one in a bar somewhere
Mobile Fun have posted up this picture which they claim has been sent to the by a Chinese iPhone case factory, it is a CAD of the specifications required for the new iPhone 5 cases that are to be produced. To me it looks more like an iPod touch due to the camera placement but it does have some key new features that look interesting.
