While we have all been getting excited about the potential release of the upcoming new iPhone 5 there is now also rumours that we could be seeing a smaller iPad being released which will very much be like a larger iPod touch. My thinking around why we are seeing this is most probably due to the popularity of the new Google Nexus tablet and its very attractive pricing. This iPad mini bezel design is a key design difference from the iPad (9.7-inch) that features a smaller sized bezel around the entire iPad. Also present is a new thin design, front-facing camera, rear-camera, and a smaller dock connector which we are rumoured to be seeing on the iPhone 5
Well here it is the new iPad 3 with all the new features that we had heard on the rumour mill. The new iPad is 9.4mm thin and weighs 1.4lbs. As for the iPad 2, it is 8.8mm deep and weighs 1.33lbs (Wi-Fi model). This makes the new iPad 0.6mm thicker and 0.07lbs heavier. Lets start from the top
Retina Display
Finally confirmation of what we have been hearing for weeks, 2048-by-1536-pixel resolution, or 3.1 million pixels, for “the most ever in a mobile device.” That means it has 1 million more pixels than HD!
New Camera
iSight camera with a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor so instead of having to deal with your poor iPad 2 rear camera you can now take good pictures and the similarity of the pictures and the features is almost identical to the iPhone 4s camera, and it records in 1080p
New A5X Quad Core Graphics
Not much is known of what the performance is going to be like until we have one in our hands but we have been assured that it is going to be blisteringly fast, Apple said the A5 chip is “twice as fast” as Tegra 3 and the new A5X provides “four times the performance.”
New Battery
Here is the reason for the very slight weight increase it is due to an enormous new battery that promises 10 hours of battery life…. impressive
Apple have today announced they are having a press conference next Wednesday and have released the above picture which appears to show an iPad, if you click the image and look closely you may see that the screen has a Retina display which more or less confirms all reports that we are going to see the iPad 3 on 7th March and it WILL have a Retina display.

Apple have officially sent out invites for an unveiling on the 2nd March which is expected to be the new iPad 2 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California. Hopefully then will become reality on how many of these rumours were infact good, maybe I will go back and post a thread of true or false rumours that we posted about the iPad 2. Either way next week we will all know, be sure to check back for updates!
The guys over and 9to5mac have posted up this video on youtube which shows a silicone case for a second generation iPad which according to them has come from a reliable source, although I think everything we have ever posted has come from a reliable source lol. On a serious not 9to5mac are usually pretty spot on with speculation and items they have sourced.

They keep coming all these iPad 2 rumors and this seems like one of the best yet a video showing the supposed new rear case of an iPad 2. Straight away we see the camera hole and also the large speaker which the iPad so desperately needs!!
