Right so after the big news yesterday we now all know what the iPhone 5 features and what it looks like, by now you probably all know the new features but I thought we would do a quick run down
Display.
As seen in the picture above it now features a 4″ Retina display which makes the phone taller but it is the same width as the iPhone 4s
New A6 Processor
The A6 is the replacement for the A5 which is in the iPhone 4s and we have been promised double the speed and handling capabilities of the A5 chip, so we should see some exciting games in the future
New Wireless and 4G
It now has a new wireless processor which will more than double wireless speeds and all of the iPhone 5′s are 4G capable which can see around 33mbps with good signal, hopefully this gets rolled out here in the UK very soon
New Dock Connector
We will now also see a new dock connector which we have been promised is now lightening quick, for all those people that claim this is a money making idea it may well be but they have also released a dock adapter which offers backwards capability
Today we have seen this picture flying around the blogging scene causing all sorts of excitement and rumours, it shows what looks like an iPod Touch screen but notice how tall it is? It measures in at 4.1 Inches which would confirm all other rumours that we may possibly be seeing a new larger iPhone and iPod next month announced at WWDC. We always get a major announcement at WWDC and when ever a new iPhone or iPod is on its way we do always receive images of parts from Chinese sources and especially with employees in China reporting that in the factories they have slowed iPhone 4s production down by 20-25%
Fingers crossed that there is more to come
Earlier this year Toshiba spent $1.19 billion on building a new facility which would develop new LCD screens for future iPhone’s which is a massive deal for the company but from today I think Apple might be banging there head on a desk. Toshiba released a whole lot of news at a press conference which has been running and also released a few juicy details
Displays for Mobile Phones and Portable Electronics
The mobile section of the booth will feature high-resolution LTPS displays, up to 367ppi (pixels per inch) resolution density, in sizes ranging from 3.3-inch to 4.0-inch with resolution formats ranging from Wide VGA (480 x 864) to HD (720 x 1280). In addition, these displays will demonstrate advanced technologies such as high-contrast (up to 1,500:1), high-color (up to 92% NTSC), and wide viewing angle (up to H/V 176º/176º). The displays are just a few representative examples of TMD’s broad line of thin and light displays for mobile smartphones and other portable electronic devices.
The guys over at 9to5mac are reporting that they have inside news from the Foxconn factory from a reliable source claiming they have seen the iPhone 5 prototypes around and confirms most of what we have reported about. They also claim that Apple have finished the design process and are now ready to go into mass production with this model that is being used by Foxconn employees, looks wise they have said it looks almost identical to the iPhone 4 except for 2 key items. The first being that the iPhone 5 has a flat aluminium back much like the picture above, and the second being that the screen is bigger loosing the thick black bezel on the side of the iPhone for a bit of a bigger screen.
